As a part of Helsinki Design Week, we celebrated the opening of the Kaamos exhibition and the launch of our Autumn/Winter 2024 collection. The event took place at the new KULT event space and nightclub, located in the iconic Kulttuuritalo (House of Culture), a Helsinki landmark designed by Alvar Aalto and opened in 1958.

Kaamos collection

As we enter the darker season of the year, the descending twilight invites us to slow down, gather our strength, and focus—this collection explores just that. The new AW24 collection, named Kaamos (polar night in Finnish), includes both archival pieces and new designs and colourways, blending art objects with everyday items. The collection highlights Iittala’s enduring commitment to exceptional design and craftsmanship, reflecting the brand's deep connection to Finnish nature and traditions.

Unique glass artworks

The glass sculptures, each mouth-blown by master glassblowers at the Iittala glass factory, encapsulate the contrasting seasons that inspired the AW24 collection n, where the extreme light of summer gives way to darkness. Throughout history, life as part of nature has been shaped by various beliefs and rituals. From this uniqueness comes the power that these glass sculptures interpret.
